Email is the simultaneously the best and worst thing to happen to business communication since the telephone. It allows us to quickly send and receive communications, files, and manage our working schedules. It can also remove a great deal of the humanity of working with others, especially in the consulting world.
Nearly every professional email account has some sort of signature that is included in the opening email in a series and sometimes all of them. What can a signature tell us about a person, probably very little but that won’t stop me from speculating.
Short, but not Sweet
“I am using a mobile device. I don’t have time for this crap.”
“No specific regards, but there are some regards associated with this transmission. ”
“No,no, I really mean this every time I send an email.”
“I might require a drink if this chain of emails goes on much longer.”
“We are chummy now but I still see you as a subordinate.”
